Power washing & resurfacing

Green, slippery, tired-looking drive? Bring it back — no rip-out needed

Moss, algae and ground-in dirt make a driveway look a decade older than it is — and a slick of green is a slip waiting to happen by the front door. Before you spend thousands replacing it, a proper power wash, re-sand and seal can make it look near-new — from around €150 for a typical driveway.

What's involved

Clean, re-sand, seal — or resurface

Most tired driveways and patios don't need replacing. A high-pressure jet wash lifts years of moss, algae, oil and black spotting and reveals the colour underneath. On block paving the joints are then re-sanded so the blocks lock back together, and a sealant coat keeps it looking fresh and weed-resistant for years.

When a surface is past cleaning — crazed concrete or thinning tarmac — resurfacing restores the top layer instead. A resin overlay onto sound tarmac or concrete, for example, gives you a brand-new finish for a fraction of a full dig-out. Either way, we'll tell you straight whether a clean will do or resurfacing makes more sense.

How it's done

From grimy to gleaming in an afternoon

1

Pre-treat & wash

Stubborn moss and algae are pre-treated, then a high-pressure rotary wash strips dirt evenly without gouging the surface.

2

Re-sand joints

On block paving, fresh kiln-dried sand is brushed and vibrated into every joint so the blocks relock and weeds stay out.

3

Seal & protect

An optional sealant coat locks in the sand, repels oil and keeps the colour looking fresh. No deposit paid until you're happy.

Power washing FAQ

Your questions, answered

How much does power washing cost in Ireland?
About €2–€4/m², or from around €150 for a typical driveway. Re-sanding block paving and adding a sealant coat cost extra. Larger or heavily stained areas cost more.
What's the difference between washing and resurfacing?
Washing cleans the existing surface. Resurfacing restores or replaces the top layer — like a resin overlay onto sound tarmac or concrete — when cleaning alone won't bring a tired surface back.
Do I need to re-sand block paving after washing?
Yes. Jet washing blasts the kiln-dried sand out of the joints. Re-sanding locks the blocks back together and helps stop weeds and movement — a quick, low-cost add-on.
Should I seal it afterwards?
On block paving, concrete and natural stone, yes — sealing locks in joint sand, repels oil, slows weed regrowth and keeps colours fresh. Resin-bound surfaces don't need sealing.
